6 Of The Greatest Travel Podcasts To Listen To

I don’t know about you, but I am a total sucker for a good podcast, whether I am driving, getting ready, cooking dinner, or on a long journey. I just love having background noise and why not double it up with something that you may learn from or inspire you, and a podcast can do just that. Today I’m focusing specifically on travel-based podcasts (no surprise this is a travel blog) and the best ones out there for you to listen to you next time you have a spare moment to unwind.

Untold Italy Travel Podcast

I adore this podcast as it feels like an escape from the day to day, surprise surprise it’s all about the beautiful country of Italy. I believe it was created at the start of the pandemic in 2020 to allow people to tune out of their day to day and vividly be able to imagine travelling around Italy. The host Katy does this so well from descriptive episodes about certain Italian towns/cities or about the amazing cuisine, often joined by Italian locals or travel experts the advice is top-notch.

Travel That Matters

This podcast is hosted by journalist Bruce Wallin, he interviews different people from all areas of travel expertise. Talking to them about travel passions and stories, you will not only be inspired but receive practical advice from some of the industry leaders. I partially enjoyed the episode with Deborah Calmeyer, hearing her stories about Africa’s greatest safaris was truly fascinating!

Solo Travel Woman Podcast

Hosted by experienced solo traveller Sara, the episodes include a mix of interviews with other female travellers discussing solo travel or Sara’s own experiences and travel advice. The big mission behind the podcast is to encourage and inspire other females that solo travel can be for you. I think it’s a great listen for all but especially for women wanting to embark on their own solo travel adventure, but maybe feeling a little reluctant.

Many Roads Travelled

A podcast taking you on a journey, in season 1 Tamara takes you on her travels around Africa and whilst I can’t say I have heard them all yet, it’s been a pleasure listening so far. The stories allow you to imagine yourself alongside her almost like an audiobook but also learn practical advice for any future travels you may pursue. Season 2 is what really had me gripped as she shares her overland trip around Central America, I have found it super useful in planning and inspiring my next adventure!

The Travel Diaries

The podcast host Holly interviews people in the travel industry and celebrities. Most episodes follow the interviewee’s own personal travel diaries whilst growing up. It is an interesting insight into people’s mindsets regarding travel. There are also Destination Special episodes in which the focus is on one particular destination and usually Holly is joined by a travel expert of that country. I find the conversations inspiring to listen to and enjoy learning other people’s perspectives on travel.

The Offbeat Life

This podcast is perfect for inspiring digital nomads. With so many interviews with different remote workers, it gives an insight into how to achieve that nomadic lifestyle. It doesn’t over glorify the lifestyle which I found refreshing, people talk all about the highs and the lows. It’s certainly my dream lifestyle so I take a lot of value from this podcast and think you would too!

Let me know your best podcast recommendations? And what do you think would make a great travel podcast?
