The Best Travel-Inspired Cocktail Recipes

Combining 2 of my favourite things travel and cocktails! I’m bringing some 10 out of 10 cocktail recipes you can make at home, so invite some friends over, whack out your fancy glasses and don’t forget the cocktail shaker!

Caipirinha

How to make a Caipirinha, a Brazilian themed cocktail recipe
  • 45 ml cachaca
  • 1/2 lime
  • 2 teaspoons of caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of lime juice
  • Lemonade/soda water to top up

A classic Brazilian drink, this will not disappoint! Cachaça is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice that is very popular in Brazil. It’s a refreshing cocktail that I would describe as a mix of a mojito and margarita, it’s light but also intense at the same time.

How to Make
  1. Chop up 1/2 a lime and place in your glass with the caster sugar. Use your muddler to mix together.
  2. Add some crushed ice to the glass.
  3. Pour the cachaca and tsp of lime juice and give it a stir. Top up with a dash of lemonade/soda water.
  4. Garnish with a lime and half sugar rim.

Mexican Cosmopolitan

  • 45ml Tequila (vodka for a classic)
  • 15ml Cointreau
  • 15ml Chambord
  • 45ml Cranberry juice
  • 15ml Lime juice
  • Raspberry to garnish

A little spin on the famous manhattan cosmopolitan, just swap out the vodka for a tequila of your choice. This isn’t for the faint-hearted or if you are in the mood for a relaxing cocktail, it’s easily the strongest drink on this list, but it still tastes good!

HOW TO MAKE
  1. Place ice in your cocktail shaker and add the tequila, Cointreau, Chambord, cranberry juice and lime juice.
  2. Then shake, shake away!
  3. Strain and pour into your martini glass, and add a raspberry or any berries you have as garnish.

Limoncello Spritz

  • 50ml Limoncello
  • 60ml Prosecco
  • 90ml Lemonade
  • Lemon slices and mint to garnish

The perfect drink for an Italian aperitivo! Limoncello is an Italian liqueur that is usually taken as a shot after a meal, and surprise surprise is lemon flavoured. A limoncello spritz is a perfect drink for a summer’s night in the garden, it’s super refreshing. If you love the citrus flavour you can also create a limoncello martini or a limoncello mojito!

HOW TO MAKE
  1. Add ice to a wine glass and pour in the limoncello.
  2. Top up with the prosecco and lemonade and gently stir
  3. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Cuban Sunrise

  • 50ml Dead Man’s Fingers Rum
  • 100ml passion/tropical juice
  • Splash of grenadine
  • Slice of orange to garnish

Another twist on a classic but this time we are ditching the tequila for rum. This aesthetically pleasing drink strives to emulate a beautiful morning sky, by not mixing the layers. It’s one of the more simpler recipes on this list and requires only 3 ingredients, so you can be sipping on this in no time.

How to Make
  1. Add ice to the cocktail shaker and pour in the rum and juice of your choosing
  2. Shake away!
  3. Strain and pour into a glass over ice.
  4. Use a teaspoon to drizzle the grenadine down the side of the glass.
  5. Add a slice of orange to garnish

Hawaiian Martini

  • 30ml vodka
  • 30ml malibu
  • 60ml pineapple juice

A drink that is sure to make you feel like you are lying on a beach. Again a fairly simple recipe that can be shaken in no time. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to serve this for a Hawaiian themed party, double up the recipe and hollow out pineapple to serve the drink inside!

How to Make
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add vodka, malibu and pineapple juice
  2. Shake aggressively to create the foam
  3. Strain and pour into a chilled martini glass
